This I Believe is an international project engaging people in writing and sharing essays describing the core values that guide their daily lives. Over 60,000 of these essays, written by people from all walks of life, are archived here on our website, heard on public radio, and featured in weekly podcasts. The project is based on the popular 1950s radio series of the same name hosted by Edward R. Murrow. There is also a published book and can buy the audio on cd. -thisibelieve.org
This American Life is a weekly public radio show broadcast on more than 500 stations to about 1.7 million listeners. It follows the format of having a theme and a variety of stories of that same theme. It is mostly true stories or everyday people. While often lighthearted, some stories have revolved around issues of displacement, refugees and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
On the Media is a program from WNYC and deals with current events, media reportage, and the history and often humorous moments of it. A podcast version is also available.
Radio Rookies is a program for teens in NYC through the public radio station, WNYC. Producers are matched with teens for mentoring, documenting a neighborhood and telling life stories. Many topics deal with identity, displacement and adaptation.
